BJP taps Upasa for Jalukbari

BJP is believed to have agreed to field Upasa Phukan from Jalukbari constituency to counter Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in the assembly polls early next year.

Accompanied by her mother, the daughter of former home minister Late Bhrigu Kumar Phukan has been visiting a cross section of the people in the constutuency saying that she translate her father’s dream into reality.  

According to sources, she agreed to contest the polls at the instance of Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal who visited her several times to convince her.
