BJP’s fresh attempt to groom a circle of senior Congress leaders in Dima Hasao district has fallen on a stony ground in the face simmering discontent within the party just a few months before the assembly polls.
The party leadership was well prepared to roll out red carpet for the Congress leaders who were enjoying prominent positions in the Dima Hasao District Autonomous Council. They include the council’s Chief Executive Member Debojeet Thaosen. Others include Kulendu Daolagapu, Denis Teron, Laljoshua Baite, Devojit Bathari, Samuel Changsan and Tushar Kanti Deb.
But the process suffered a major setback when the district party leaders and members went all out against the move forcing the party leadership to give a second thought.
Party sources told Assam Times that the blueprint was prepared by a former powerful Congress minister aided and abetted by a television journalist with full consent from Debojeet Thaosen who quit his office after two of his executive colleagues joined BJP. Then Thaosen along with his hencemen agreed to shift the loyalty.
