Dearth teachers at Raha

At a time when the state education department claims better functioning of government schools, the ground reality tells a different story.

The Arts and Science stream students of Raha H.S.School are facing acute shortage of teaching staff especially Chemistry and Geography teachers from the past several years. The conscious parents and residents of the town said to this correspondent that the students of science stream have been studying chemistry subject in the school without a teacher since 2009 . The post has been lying vacant since then and no one has been appointed till now by the authority which hampers the students drastically to get education in the school ”, the parents further said. What surprises most is that the students have been appearing examinations without a chemistry teacher since the aforesaid year.

The same is the case with the arts stream students . The students of XI and XII standard are studying Geography in the school without a teacher since last 2 years. The students find it hard to deal with the subject and many of them have already left the subject due to the dearth of a teacher. The vacant posts of teachers have pushed the students of this higher institution towards darkness.

Talking to this correspondent, the students said , “ We do not understand why the authority concerned has not appointed any teacher to fill the vacant posts of these two subjects. We have been suffering a lot in receiving education in these two subjects and the concerning authority remains silent to our problem.’’

When contacted, Gajendra Kalita , the in-charge principal of the school admitted that the students of higher grade classes have been receiving education in the school without teachers in Chemistry and Geography subjects. “ We have informed the higher authority about the problem the students facing and ask them to appoint teachers in these two subjects as soon as they could. But there is no action so far’’ he said.

The conscious parents and residents are in the hope that before the problem will worsen the higher education department takes some immediate measures to fill the vacant posts of the teachers in these two subjects so that no students could show interest to immigrate to other institution.

Another rape attempt in Khetri, 1 held

JAGIROAD: Amid an escalating shock and anger over the rape and murder incident in Nagaon, the Khetri police in Morigaon district caught a youth for trying to molest a minor girl on Monday. The incident took place at Kahikuchi near the National Highway No 37 on Sunday evening when the Class VI girl was forcibly taken away to a place by a local youth who raped her and left away. NAGAON: People thronged in thousands at Nehrubali in Nagaon town demanding Justice for the minor girl in Dhing whom three miscreants gangraped and burnt alive two days back. The entire gathering demanded immediate arrest of the main culprit Zakir Hussain, who is still on the run while two other arrested perpetrators are juvenile. Speakers after speakers in the crowd demanded capital punishment for the perpetrators saying that this measure is the only way to firmly deal with these raising cases of rape and murder. Gangrape and murder rerun in Nagaon

NAGAON: In yet another bizarre incident, miscreants burnt alive a minor girl after being gangraped in Nagaon district sending huge shock and anger across the state on Friday. The gruesome incident took place in Bordua where the miscreants in Dhaniabheti gaon gangraped the minor girl inside her home in the absence of her parents and later set her on fire by pouring kerosene and fled. Later local residents came to her rescue and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. Dacoit hurt in police firing, dead

RAHA:An infamous robber died in Nagaon hours after he sustained injury as he was trying to escape police during an operation on Friday. Two of his associates were captured.The incident took place in the wee hours at Mohghuli area where a gang of dacoits was trying to strike forcing the police to step in. Police captured two of them while others fled and one of them was shot at as police opened fire at him for trying to escape in the wee hours.Identified as Ramjan Ali, he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries in the morning. RAHA , March 13 :  The 12 hr Assam Bandh called by Tribal organisations of Assam  from 5 am today in protest against the government's failure to fill up vacant posts reserved for Scheduled Tribes ended  in the evening heavily affecting the normal life in Raha. The vehicles both private and public plying on NH 37 were run by police under tight security arrangements.
