Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

After days of will-it-won’t-it, Gauhati High Court entertained Akhil Gogoi’s PIL against Assam Public Service Commission which mires in controversy over the examination to select ACS, APS and allied services.According to the court, it took nearly 15 days to examine the position of the KMSS leader who has alleged rampant corruption in the selection of candidates for ACS, APS and allied services.In his PIL, Gogoi sought court’s intervention against the state public service commission and cancellation of the selected candidates in question.

The DNA report of a decomposed body is expected to crack the Banphool murder mystery. River police on the Brahmaputra recovered a decomposed body on Wednesday.It was widely believed to be of Pranab Mahanta who went missing after allegedly killing his wife along with two daughters inside his residence.
