Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Louis Berger: HC asks for govt affidavits

The Assam government and GMDA have felt the heat of Louis Berger bribery allegations when the Gauhati High Court asked both the parties to submit affidavits by the next 21 days.Taking up a public interest litigation filed by an organization on Tuesday, a division bench of the high court said that the allegations of bribery was serious in nature and asked GMDA and Dispur to submit affidavits by the next 15 days.The court was scheduled to take up the PIL on Monday. Mahanta’s health improves

Hiten Mahanta’s health condition marginally improved on Tuesday. But he needs more treatment at the GNRC Hospitals where he has been undergoing treatment for the last several days. Tiwa autonomous polls on Wednesday

The stage is set for the Tiwa Autonomous Council polls on Wednesday. The polling is set to begin 8 in the morning in Nagaon and Morigaon districts. Morigaon is gearing up for polling at 190 booths to cover 19 council constituencies. CM to recommend CBI probe!

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is preparing to recommend CBI probe into the Louis Berger scam where a Canada-based firm alleged to have bribed some ministers and GMDA officers for a multi crore water supply project in 2001.Talking to Assam Times, CMO officials confirmed criminal conspiracy in preliminary report of enquiry by additional chief secretary  SC Das.Acting on this preliminary administrative report, the chief minister ordered CID probe. But stunned by the criticism from the Opposition parties along with many organizations, Gogoi is expected to recommend CBI probe into the multi crore scam.
