Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entry into BJP will put the people in utter confusion over the chief ministerial candidate.
Hours after Dr Sarma unofficially joined BJP, Gogoi said that if Sarma is made the chief ministerial candidate then what is in store for Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattacharya.
Talking to reports Gogoi wondered why and how Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP a day after he was proud of his party’s victory in the Tiwa autonomous council polls.

An anti corruption and vigilance cell of Assam police questioned a circle of senior officers in the state directorate of information and public relations to probe a Rs 30 crore scam that took place during the erstwhile Congress government. A lower court in Guwahati on Monday sent Dr N Rajamarathandan to jail after police produced the CID officer before it in connection with a case where he was charged with providing classified information to the associates of Soobodh Biswas. The IPS officer who was probing the role of Soobodh Biswas in the Silapothar clash was arrested two days back after several hours of interrogation. He was accused of making public the progress of the probe he was heading in an RTI response. He was remanded to two days police custody which expired on Monday and the investigators did not seek him in remand before the court which sent him to jail for fourteen days.
A lower court in Dhemaji sent Soobodh Biswas to fourteen days judicial custody after the alleged master mind behind the Silapothar clash was produced before it on Monday. Two of his associates who were brought to Assam from West Bengal on transit remand were sent to police custody for interrogation. The duo were picked up a couple of days back to be interrogated. Biswas’ term for police remand ended and the investigators did not seek his remand before the court which then sent him to jail.
