IPS officer sent to jail

A lower court in Guwahati on Monday sent Dr N Rajamarathandan to jail after police produced the CID officer before it in connection with a case where he was charged with providing classified information to the associates of Soobodh Biswas.

The IPS officer who was probing the role of Soobodh Biswas in the Silapothar clash was arrested two days back after several hours of interrogation.

He was accused of making public the progress of the probe he was heading in an RTI response. He was remanded to two days police custody which expired on Monday and the investigators did not seek him in remand before the court which sent him to jail for fourteen days.
