Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entry into BJP will put the people in utter confusion over the chief ministerial candidate.
Hours after Dr Sarma unofficially joined BJP, Gogoi said that if Sarma is made the chief ministerial candidate then what is in store for Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattacharya.
Talking to reports Gogoi wondered why and how Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP a day after he was proud of his party’s victory in the Tiwa autonomous council polls.

Security forces claimed to have shot dead a hardcore ULFA-I rebel at an encounter in Dibrugarh district on Tuesday. According to army, a group of rebels who were hiding at a house in Rongpuria village in Kakopothar targetted an army vehicle with firing. The army jawans who were travelling on the vehicle retaliated where the encounter took place. One of the rebels who initially sustained injury died later. Others managed to flee from the spot. BJP candidate Ranoj Pegu won the Dhemaji assembly by election defeating his nearest rival Congress candidate Babul Sonowal by a margin of 9,253 votes on Thursday. Pegu, for whom high profile party leaders campaigned got around 69, 253 votes while despite low key campaign Congress candidate Babul Sonowal pulled 60,000 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam twice this year if he accepts the invitation from chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Sonowal called on Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday and invited him to attend the Dhola-Saniya bridge opening ceremony next month.
