VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Journalist Jaiklong Brahma arrested

Jaiklong Brahma, a senior journalist in Kokrajhar, was arrested by police on Tuesday night in Kokrajhar for links with NDFB (Songbijit faction). Brahma, who is currently working as Correspondent with a Guwahati based satellite television channel.  Brahma was called by police for personal discussion at Kokrajhar Sadar police station, but later arrested. Bandh total in Kokrajhar

The 24-hours Assam bandh called by All Koch Rajbongsi Students Union (Biswajit Roy faction) demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and reconstruction of Kamatapur , disrupted normal life in Kokrajhar on Monday. The bandh evoke full  response in Kokrajhar -- offices markets, shop remained closed, which begun from 5 am. 2,125 more teachers to be recruited

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary has assured for appointing 2,125 teachers in elementary eduaction in four districts of BTAD that were selected by BTC elementary education advisery board in 2006-07,during a meeting held on Monday BTC Secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary slammed police administration for its actions against BPF party leader and workers and warns for withdrawing of all kinds of PSO,house guards including Chief if indulging and harassing continue on party leader and workers without any justification of cases. Flood washes away villages at Patgaon

Floods washed villages and eroded at Patgaon Large numbers of villages,bundh and Mataori under Patgaon police outpost in Kokrajhar district today washed out and eroded by flash flood waters. Candle light rally

The Bodoland Students Union (BSU) took out a candle light rally at Kokrajhar town on Wednesday expressing solidarity to Priya Basumatary, who was killed by NDFB(S). The rally was started at BSU's office office at Tengapara. The students union condemning the killing, said that it was ashamed for society as students were also not spared by militants in the state. The union demanded strong and strict action against militants and ensure security to the common people.

Workshop on citizen journalism

A three-days workshop on citizen journalism begins at Bodofa House, Bagansali in Kokrajhar on Monday which is being organised by All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in association with Assam Times Foundation. Over 30 participants from various parts of the district participating in the workshop. The workshop is being organised to train young people in the field of reporting and digital photography with so as to enable them to work as citizen journalist, said the organiser.

Full security for Priya's parents

Chirang district administration has assured security to the parent of Priya Basumatary,who was killed by NDFB(S)last week.
