VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Prohibitory order issued in Chirang district

Magisterial probe

A magisterial probe has been ordered into an encounter took place between security forces and suspected militants on February 13 last held at Aipoali Part II village under Runikhata police station where two persons identified as Bipul Narzary and Phunka Narzary were killed. In this connection,the magisterial inquiry headed by executive magistrate Chirang district Jitu Kumar Barman has made an appealed to the public who know the actual fact of the incident to submit their statements on April 4 next from 11 am to 4 pm at office chamber of the deputy commissioner office at Kajalgaon.

BPF leader shot dead

A BPF party secretary of Bambrabil primary committee, Mozibur Rahman was shot dead this evening by unidentified armed miscreants at Bhurisatam under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar.According to source, Rahman was shot at by two armed miscreants came on a bike while he was on way his home from Gossaigaon town and received bullets injuries on his back and stomach.He was immediately rushed to Gossaigaon civil hospital, but referred to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital and succumbed to hospital, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Where is our missing cadres: NDFB-S

NDFB’s Songbijit faction on Tuesday dared the government to disclose the names of its cadres who have been remaining untraced since the Royal Army of Bhutan launched the All Clear Operation in Bhutan in 2003.In a statement sent to media, B R Ferengga who is the in-charge of the education wing of the outfit asked the authorities to disclose the whereabouts of the NDFB leaders including B Erakdao, who went missing during the 'All Clear Operation'.

NDFB-S steps up activities

NDFB-S is likely to step up its activities in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls. In a statement sent to media, B R Ferengga who is the in-charge of the education wing of the outfit said that the encounter in the early morning done at Bombay centre of Masbat is the first attack against the security forces in the name of second phase Urailang Operation for not disclosing where about the missing leaders of NDFB during 'All Clear Operation' 2003.He said that the second phase Urailang Operation will continue up to the midnight of April 7 next.He further appealed the people not to do journey these days.

Voters awareness campaign

Kokrajhar district administration flagged off the voters’ awareness day across the district on Tuesday.Deputy Commissioner Nitin Khade launched the programme in the presence of Baskar Das, District election officer which willcontinue for 25 days started from Tuesday in the district.Khade said that a strong security arrangement would be made to avoid unwanted incidences during the election which be held on April 24. He said that adequate security arrangement will be deployed to hold the election in free and fair manner. Shock and anger in Kokrajhar

Utter shock and anger seem to have gripped Kokrajhar a day after three members of a family were killed in the name of witch hunting.The incident took place at Borjhora village in  Monglajhora area under Bogribari police station  where the trio remained clueless.Police have so far arrested 13 persons in this connection after two bodies were exhumed from a jungle.  The entire incident came to light after the victim's youngest son, who is a constable with 7th AP Bn got to the incident . 3 missing in Kokrajhar

Three people are believed to have been killed in the name of witch-hunting in Kokrajhar.The incident took place on Thursday in Mongoljhar where the three people including a woman have been remaining untraced for the last 48 hours.Acting on the complaints, police have picked up 11 villagers on Saturday morning.
