VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy: FCI in final

Food Corporation of India(FCI) Sports Club from Guwahati will take on Guwahati ASEB in the Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy final match slated for October 18 in Kokrajhar.Guwahati FCI sailed to the final after defeating Assam Rhino from Tezpur in the last semi final by 5-4 goals via tie-breaker shots at Dotma DASA ground on Wednesday.Both teams tried to score goals. But to no avail forcing the tie breaker option where FCI defeated Assam Rhino by 5-4 goals.  

ABSU takes out long march

The All Bodo Students Union takes out a 'Long march on Wednesday to change the face of BTAD with peace and development.  Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner  Tajeswar Muktiar opened the awareness journey from Bamwngaon village in Kokrajhar district in the presence of huge public and student activists.He hoped that the long-march will ensure change in all spheres of life and has lauded ABSU leaders for the steps to building a healthy awareness campaign.The programme will continue till November 15 with month-long scheduled where over 400 students union activists and publics are participating the march. Mungkhlong Trophy: Rhino take on FCI

Guwahati FCI are taking on the Assam Rhino from Tezpur in the second semi final on Wednesday a day after ASEB from Guwahati defeated Bhopal SBI in the first semi final for the Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar .  ASEB Sports Club in Guwahati has entered into final of the coveted Trophy beating SBI from Bhopal by 2-1 goals. Dwimalu Brahma and Y Gopi Singh scored one each goal in 5th minutes and 27th minutes on behalf of ASEB in the first half against SBI. SBI’s Sansol Saha reduced lone goal scrored in 69th minutes in the second half which led n 2-1. 

BPCPI demands Ranjan release

The demand for immediate release of Ranjan Daimary gathers momentum with a huge rally in Kokrajhar on Sunday asking for prime minister's intervention. Girl Child Day in Kokrajhar

The challenges of the girl child came up for a livelier discussion when an NGO observed the International Girl Child Day in Kokrajhar Saturday. The theme this year was Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of Violence at Science College auditorium participated by hundreds of adolescents from across the district.The speakers outlined the challenges faced by the adolescents in the present scenario and the measures to overcome those challenges.  Adolescents from various places under Kokrajhar district actively participated in the event and performed dances, songs, speeches which attracted audience.

Arms seized in Gossaigaon gun fight

Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition after a heavy exchange of firing with NDFB-S militants in Gossaigaon on Friday.The encounter took place in the wee hours at Dumbazaar Rangapara area under Saraibil police outpost, Gossaigaon sub-division. Udalguri Youths beat Coochbehar club

The Udalguri Kashibari Youth Club beat Coochbehar Municipality Recreation Sports Club from West Bengal by 4-1 goals in Wednesday’s clash for the 17th Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy being played at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar.Michael of Coochbehar Municipality  struck the first goal in 34th minutes in the first half against Udalguri Kashibari Youth club and led the game advance with 1-0.For Udalguri, Torsis Sangma alone scored three goals in 48th,49th and 70th minutes and Kiren Roy scored another goal in 64th minutes against Coochbehar in the second half which led the team to win by 4-1 goals. City Police from Guwahati will take on Dotma DASA XI on Thursday. . 

Arrest Barman in suicide case

Various local organizations in Kokrajhar demand immediate arrest of Uma Charan Barman in connection with the sensational Reuka Basumatary suicide case a day after the police found the suicide note where she blamed her boy friend.All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), Boro Somaj,All Bodo Womens’ Welfare Federation (ABWWF) expressed serious concern over incident in Kokrajhar town and demand exemplary punishment for Barman who is absconding.Kokrajhar district committee of ABSU president Lawrence Islary demanded a thorough inquiry saying that he should be immediately arrested.

Assam Rhino take on Salbagan

Assam Rhino from Tezpur is taking on Gossaigaon Salbagan Sports Club in the clash for the 17th Daoharu Mungkhlong Trophy-2014 at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. Altogether 12 teams are in the fray the trophy this time which kicked off on Monday. These include SBI,Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh),Dumdum Samanyay Samiti,Kolkata(West Bengal),Coochbehar MRSC,West Bengal, City Police,Guwahati,FCI,Guwahati,Udalguri Elevent. Barhungka Athletic Club in Kokrajhar defeated Rongjali Club Simlabagan,Santipur of Chirang by 2-1 goal in the inaugural match on Monday.

Renuka blames Barman for suicide

The mysterious death of Renuka Basumatary takes new turn in Kokrajhar a day after the suicide note was recovered from her Subashpalli residence.Police recovered suicide note after she committed suicide following a controversial affairs with Uma Charan Barman in Kokrajhar town.Police said Renuka left her suicide note at her residence which would help them probe the entire case. Uma Charan Barman of Silkatari of Chirang has been absconding after the incident.In her suicide note, Renuka alleged that Barman who had affair with her during the last ten years, tried to marry another girl. Barman further threaten to kill her and her family members.
