ABSU protests in Kokrajhar, Chirang

Protest continued in Lower Assam as well in the state against killing of Priya Basumatary, a Class X student by NDFB(S). Hundreds of students, activists and commoners participated in silent protests in the twin districts of Kokrajhar and Chirang today. The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Chirang District Committee staged a silent rally covering their mouths with black cloth pieces at Kajalgaon while commoners and civic organizations brought out a peace rally at Runikata in protest against the killing of Priya Basumatary at Dwimuguri on Wednesday last. ABSU meanwhile termed the killing as inhuman and said that it occurred due to security lapse of the government.

ABSU President Promod Boro demanded strict steps against militants in the state. The ABSU Kokrajhar District Committee also carried out a candle light rally this evening in Kokrajhar town in protest against the killing of Priya Basumatary. The rally commenced from the office of the ABSU Kokrajhar Regional office along JD Road and proceeded through the main town before it dispersed.
