VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

NDFB-S denies killing of Anup Basumatary

Craft bazaar got underway in Kokrajhar

Over 100 artisans from various states of the country participated in the Craft Bazaar 2015-16, Kokrajhar which has begun here at Rashmela ground with 10-days programme in Kokrajhar today.  Former Minister and MLA Pramila Rani Brahma lighted the lamp to inaugurate the bazaar attending as chief guest in the presence of artisans and officials.  In her speech Brahma said that the handicraft tradition can extend helping hand to earn livelihood among citizens. Jothai beat Sanswrang

Jothai SC from Gendrabil beat Sanswrang SC from Serfanguri 2-0 in Monday's match of Martyrs Gold Cup football championship being played at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar. Rakheb Basumatary and Arabinda Paul of Jothai scored one each goal in 26th minutes and 65th minutes and defeated Sanswrang 2-0.  Jaraguri Football Academy from Gossaigaon is taking on Bongaigaon XI Star Club on November 12. 

Craft bazaar in Kokrajhar

Centenary celebration of Bodo poet

The centenary birthday of Bodo poet Ishan Mushahary was observed at Kokrajhar Government College in Kokrajhar. on Monday. As part of the celebration, 100 earthen lamp were light up to mark the occasion yesterday evening in presence of large gathering including students from various colleges, family members, intellectuals etc. A portrait of the late poet, who is regarded as John Keats of Bodo literature as like Keats, Mushahary also known for his romantic poem and died at the early age of 26 years, was unveiled. NDFB-S cadre arrested

One NDFB-S cadre was arrested by security forces belonging to Army and Assam Police in a joint operation from Maslapara village under Bismuri police outpost on Monday morning in Kokrajhar district.  The arrested cadre was identified as Sanjib Wary @ Akash of Maslapara. The cadre was a cadre of 28th batch of the militant outfit and trained in Udalguri and Myanmar in 2007.  A 9 mm pistol, two live ammunition and a Chinese grenade was recovered from him.  Sanjib was involved with various anti social activities like extortion in the region, saud a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Barhoongka AC from Kokrajhar defeated Dhupdhara Football Academy from Goalpara 2-1 in the opening match of 16th edition of the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football championship, 2015 which has kicked here at KDSA ground today in Kokrajhar.  For Barhoongka, Bibek Gurung and Lamminthang Touthang scored one each goal in 59th minutes and 88th minutes while Issac Sangma of Dhupdhara reduced a goal scoring in 81th minutes in the second half and lost to Barhoongka 1-2. ITSSA objects metropolitan region plan

The Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabhas (ITSSA), raised  strong objection against the draft delineation of Guwahati Metropolitan Region and Review & Revision of Master Plan.
