Centenary celebration of Bodo poet

The centenary birthday of Bodo poet Ishan Mushahary was observed at Kokrajhar Government College in Kokrajhar. on Monday. As part of the celebration, 100 earthen lamp were light up to mark the occasion yesterday evening in presence of large gathering including students from various colleges, family members, intellectuals etc.

A portrait of the late poet, who is regarded as John Keats of Bodo literature as like Keats, Mushahary also known for his romantic poem and died at the early age of 26 years, was unveiled.

A youth festival is observed every year by the Kokrajhar college where students from various Colleges participated. Various competitions like song, dance, literay, drama are being held among the students.

Ishan Mushahary, in his short life wrote several poems, mostly romantic.

Brajendra Kumara Brahma, Tagore Literary Award, 2009 winner, columnist Dr Subhungsa Mushahary and others attended the function yesterday.
