Tarun Phukon Basumatary dies

Noted writer and former general secretary of Bodo sahitya sabha Tarun Phukon Basumatary breathed his last on Thursday evening at his own residence at Dhobai in Kokrajhar district.

Basumatary was suffering from his ailment since few months and was taking treatment in various hospitals and breathed his last by 5 PM on Thursday.He has left his son and relatives. He was involved with various social activities and hold general secretary in his life.  He was 71. 

Various organizations including No do sahitya sabha, ABSU, Boro Harimu Afad,ABPTA have condoled over his death and prayed for his heavenly peace. 

Basumatary's funeral was performed at his own Dhobai village in the presence of sabha leaders, well wishers today after paying homage. 

Dr Kameswar Brahma, president of Sabha, Sahitya Academy awarded Janil Kumar Brahma were prominent attendies among others on the day.
