The Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has expressed serious concern at the sudden closure notice of Prime News by its management leaving more than 150 employees including journalists jobless. The employees of the Guwahati based private satellite news channel inform that the concerned officials of the management have declared about its closure from today. To discuss about the latest situation and decide necessary actions in this regard, the EMFA has called for an emergency meeting on Wednesday (3 Oct) at 11 am in Guwahati Press Club. The EMFA requests the presence of every conscious television channel employee in the meeting.
The Assam wing of the Students’ Federation of India(SFI) staged symbolic protestat Dighalipukuripar, Guwahati on June 21 against the UGC’s recent decision to hold NET once in a year. The students’ organization rued that if the UGC implements its recent decision regarding the NET then a large number of students would loss chance to appear in the exam. Presently, the UGC holds NET twice in a year. Moreover, the UGC has decided to decrease pass percentage of the NET from present 15% to 6%. The SFI demanded the UGC to scrape all such decision to secure the greater interest of the students’ community.
