Bhupen Hazarika quiz competition
Dr Bhupen Hazarika Foundation is organizing a quiz competition on September 8 at Bishnu Nirmala Trust, Latasil, Guwahati, marking the Maestro’s 90th birth anniversary. The completion will be started from 11 AM and remain open for all age group consisting of two members team. The topic of the Quiz Completion is ‘Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’.

The competition will be conducted by popular Quiz Masters duo Dilip Sarma and Dipankar Kaushik.
It is to be noted that Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Foundation is the brainchild of Tej Hazarika, New York based writer and critic as well as worthy son of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. This will be second endeavour of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Foundation to orgainse such type of event.

A lower court in Guwahati has remanded Kamal Medhi to judicial custody after the KMSS general secretary was produced before it on Monday.
He was produced before it when the Kamrup chief judicial magistrate took up a petition moved by police seeking Medhi in their custody in connection with the Pranab Boro self immolation case where he was allegedly involved.
Police arrested Medhi when he was on the way to surrender after the Supreme Court quashed his anticipatory bail.

Two persons died on the spot due to road mishap at Joypur along 31 C National Highway in Kokrajhar district on Saturday afternoon. According to eye witness, two persons on a bike met collided with an oil tanker at Joypur Dhanpur along National Highway under bishmuri police outpost around 2.30 pm in Kokrajhar where two persons died on the spot. They were identified as Manojit Narzary (23) and Swapan Basumatary (27). They were on way to Bishmuri from Kokrajhar town. Later, oil tanker surrendered to police at Shyamtaibari under Gurubasha police outpost in Chirang. The tanker’s registration number was NL-0L-L3800 was bound for Bongaigaon.

Hundreds of peoples from from all walks of life took part in the dharna staged by Tribal Sangha of Kokrajhar district unit, in protest against the non implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 in the state, demanded eviction of illegal illegal settlers from reserved tribal belt and blocks.
The sangha members and common staged dharna in front of DC office today and shouted slogans with banner, placards demanding early implementation of the forest dwellers act, protection of tribal belts and blocks and appointment of ST and SC teachers in Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools in education department in the state.
The sangha submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner demanding stern action into issues of demands from sangha.
Ranjit Kumar Borgoyari, formerly presidential of the sangha has strongly scammed the government said that the govt has playing step motherly attitudes towards issue of the trials in the state of which why concern communities are depriving from the it rights.
He has demanded early implement of forest dwellers act for the welfare of the traditional ST and other forest dwellers.
