Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, in short, is referred to as “CAB”. The bill which was passed by both the houses of the Parliament (Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha) have been granted assent by the President and has now become an Act. Ever since the CAB is passed in Lok Sabha, massive protests erupted all over the state of Assam. Non-Assamese people, living outside Assam, are confused as to why are they protesting?
