Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti, Associate Professor of Economics in A. D. P. College, Nagaon, Assam, has contributed few important suggestion to Assam Accord high level committee regarding safeguards for the indigenous people of Assam. .
Dr Borkakoti appeared before the high level committee on clause 6 of Assam Accord at Tezpur on November 28 at the invitation of Government of Assam.
The high level committee is chaired by Justice (Retd) B. K. Sharma.
Inner line should be introduced in Assam with maximum limit of 30 day stay; people from rest of India coming to work here be given 5 year work permit at a time.
