KMSS rasises serious allegation against the state government

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti,the sole strong peasant organization of Assam, once again has raised serious allegation against the congress-led Assam govrnment.Akhil Gogoi, general secretary of the organization directly accused Tarun Gogoi government as prime culprit of the suicide of Anjan Baruah.Addressing a press conference at Guwahati press club, today(Sunday), he alleged that the government has created pressure upon Anjan Baruah only on suspecision.That compelled him to take up the ultimate path,Gogoi said.Pointing out rigorous imprisonment that Anjan Baruah had to pass,he lambasted the Gogoi government and said all the allegations imposed upon Anjan Baruah were false and baseless.”Fearing the popularity of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti,Gogoi government takes such brutal step against its activists”, said the general secretary of the peasant organization. He demanded appropriate probe into the matter and take exemplary action to all the accused. He also warned the government to stop torture upon the organistion’ activists otherwise his organization will continue agitation against the goverment. Mentionable that Anjan Baruah,a member of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, under Borpathar police station of Golaghat district, committed suicide on February 26.His family alleged that due to increasing insurmountable torture both mentally and physically, from the police, he was compelled to commit suicide. It is to be noted that Anjan was imprisoned for six months for the allegation of keeping relation with Maoist. Meanwhile,Baruah’s father Himendra Baruah lodged separate FIRs with Borpathar police station and sub-divisional police officer of Dhanshiri sub-division demanding that allegations leveled against his son were false and baseless. On the other hand the police administration of the district has been demanding that Anjan Baruah kept relation with Maoist.
