Protests against CAB in Namrup

Decade long potable water crisis no longer would put these villagers in dire straights. Sonowal formally opened water connectivity in Panisukia Bongaon near the Joyepur Reserve Forest on Sunday. In his address he said," when I came to know the acuate potable water crisis during the time of polls I promised to provide the villagers a solution which is permanent. Today I have kept my promise much to your delight." Local residents thanked Sonowal for his initiatives to ensure water connectivity to the village.

A huge herd of wild elephants unleashed no less reign of terror in a vast rural area in Namrup on Tuesday forcing the forest authority to step in. Comprising around 16 full grown wild elephants, the herd managed to sneak into the rural areas of Joyepur in search of food on Monday night damaging, crops, fruits and vegetables till Tuesday. A few of these elephants are moving on the roads and backyards of the houses in search of food even as the villagers and forest guards deployed there have been following the wanton creatures in broad day light. GUWAHATI:There seems to be no respite for Akhil who has been languishing in the Dibrugarh Central Jail since he was arrested under the National Security Act. The NSA Advisory Council on Saturday has confirmed his penalty under this Act which would make him bound to be in the jail for a period of one year. The advisory committee headed by Governor Jagdish Mukhi confirmed it two days ahead of the huge countrywide stir demanding immediate and unconditional release of the peasent leader who was held for urging the people to remain prepared for an armed struggle if need be.
