Unsung Heroes from northeats awarded

The 1st Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards 2019 held in Mumbai in the presence of Honourable Governor of Maharashtra Mr. Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Friday, November 15th, 2019. All respected resident commissioners of Northeast house also graced the event.

The award show started with lamp litting ceremony done by honourable Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Sunil Ambekar, Nation Organising Secretary, ABVP, Ashish Kumar Chauhan, CEO & MD, BSE, Ashish Chauhan, General Secretary, ABVP, Atul Kulkarni, Chairman, SEIL, B.K. Dey, Retd DCP, Meghalaya Police, Founder, Rebecca and Co-Organiser, Jutikaa Mahanta followed by the felicitation of the chief guest by the organising committee.

Founder, Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards, Rebecca Changkija Sema says, “On behalf of my entire team, I would like to thank everyone for pouring so much love. People think that since I am from Northeast India so people won’t take me seriously but let me tell you that I have got so much love in Maharashtra. We have 65 nominations among 5 categories from different walks of life and it has been a tough time for the jury to choose the awardees.”

Co-organiser, Jutikaa Mahanta says, “This is a great initiative towards the national integration. It is our duty to so something substantial for our community back in Northeast.”

The event is presented by Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in association with UFO. This initiative is supported by Mumbai Dabbawala Association, Mumbai University and IIM Shillong. Founded by Find Studioz, the associate partner of the event is SEIL (Students Inter State Living Experience) and the Chairman Atul Kulkarni is also the part of organising team.

Earlier, celebs like Mahima Chaudhary, Zeenat Aman have supported the initiative in Nagaland and Sikkim.

Co-Organizer for the grand event are Shiraz Henry,  Sujata Pradhan, Pavi shakya , Ashibo Chishi swu and Ankita Tiwari.

Chetia participation dominate ULFA talks

A pro talk ULFA delegation is rubbing shoulders with top home ministry officials in New Delhi on Tuesday to break the decade old peace logjam in Assam. Led by ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, the six member delegation is initiating the talks with Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrish. The ULFA delegation is strongly believed to have asked the government to ensure the participation of the recently deported ULFA founder general secretary Anup Chetia whom a special court on Monday remanded to judicial remand. Program for IAS aspirants in Delhi

Assam Bhawan officer dead

A pall of gloom grips Assamese community in New Delhi following the sudden death of an officer posted at the Assam Bhawan in the capital city on Friday. He was none other than Dipankar Biswas who suddenly died at cardiac arrest in the wee hours. Convention against AFSPA

SC to hear ad ban review plea in Jan

The Supreme Court has refused to hear the review petitions of Assam, West Bengal and Kerala on the ban on the photographs of political leaders on the government advertisments saying that it would be taken up in January as soon as the Centre files its affidavits.  A bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose on Tuesday declined to pass any order saying that it would hear in January the petitions including by the centre seeking the review of its verdict. The court fixed January 12 as the next date of hearing. Concern over cattle smuggling

A Supreme Court panel has expressed grave concern over the phenomenal rise of cattle smuggle across the Indo-Bangla border. In its third report submitted before the Supreme Court the Upanonyu Hazarika committee set up to study the border problem suggested that the shifting of the cattle haats, customs impound centre on the international border with a system of ascertaining credentials of auction and purchasers be implemented immediately.According to the panel, the situation has been taking  a worse turn. Panel for probe into border influx

A Supreme Court panel set up to study the influx across the Indo-Bangla border suggests the country’s apex court to institute a high level probe in to the entire issue confronting the north eastern region for decades. According to the Upamonyu Hazarika panel report submitted before the SC, the need of the hours is an independent probe into the allegations of a process that enables a Bangladeshi passport holder to own land in Assam and strangely to contest an Assembly election.
