Gandhi Jayanti celebrated by Army in Lingibore
As part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, the *Santak Army Camp* under the aegis of *Dao Division* organised a voluntary blood donation camp on Wednesday.
The camp was organised with the support of the *Local members of the village council and VDPs* , to save the life of people suffering from Thalassemia disease.
More than 40 people donated blood.
It is noted that the blood donation camp was in series of the various community events being conducted by the Army as part of Operation Sadbhavana.
Till now a total of 70 units of blood had been provided to the government hospitals.The blood donation camp was aimed at providing medical aid to civilians suffering from various blood related diseases like Thalassemia, Amyloidosis, Anemia, Hemophilia and Leukemia.
The camp witnessed an active participation from youths, elderly men and women from the Bihubore Gram Panchayat of the Charaideo district of Assam. Thorough medical check ups, check ups of various ailments, distribution of medicines, free of costs, to the economically challenged was also conducted at the camp.
Three medical specialists from Army including an Army doctor and two specialists along with Nursing staff from civil administration were present to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.The Army personnel and the locals volunteered to donate blood during the camp.

The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.

The largest ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the wife of Surya), Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. Namrup: Santak Army Camp of DAO Division and Assam Police arrested three NSCN(R) cadres from Halwating in Sivsagar District on Wednesday. The arrested tri are Youngai (39), Pendum (42) and Nang Sung (35) - all resident of Mokokchung, Nagaland. Police recovered one Chinese Pistol, one magazine and two mobile phones. They were handed over to Halwating police station. The cadres confessed that they assist NSCN(R) in collection of extortion money, involved in arms smuggling.
