Hojai joins national science day

Hojai: Hojai joined the  National Science Day with a day long programme to create awareness of science among the academic fraternity on Wednesday. The focus was the  Sankalpa Janakalyan Samity sponsored celebration at  Adarsha Bidya Niketan High School.

To mark the occasion a Science exhibition cum Competition was organised were nearly seven school of  Hojai participated Viz., Deshabandu Bidyapith,Morning Glory English High School, Abdul Hasib High School (Boys), Abdul Hasib High School (Girls), Skylark English Academy, Zenith English Academy  and Adarsha Bidya Niketan High School.


A meeting was organised where the teachers  briefly addressed the students about the significance of the day, he recognised the contribution by Sir C V Raman.

The objective of the program was briefly explained by  Puja Sarmah, Treasurer of the NGO who said,"  We have celebrated this day to make students aware  about the importance of scientific applications in their daily life, also to give an opportunity to the youth, girls, women to showcase their talents."

Cash prize and certificate were presented by guests to the winner's  Viz. , Akash Das (First Prize) Skylark English Academy, Nuruddin (Second Prize) Skylark English Academy, Kanai Banik (Third Prize) Deshabandu Bidyapith High School, Shruti Derby  ( Third Prize) Zenith English High School and Bishal Das ( Consulation) Adarsha Bidya Niketan High School.

The Judgement was done by Pranab Biswas,Science Teacher ,Adarsha Bidya Niketan High School and Ranjan Bora, Science Teacher,Abdul Hasib High School.

Boy drowns

Body of 14 years old Sumit Baspor S/O Sambhu Baspor and resident of Harijan Colony rescued on Saturday Morning. As per information, Sumit got drowned in Dimru river in Hojai on Friday eevening, while he along with  three others  went for the immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha. CITU protest against Labour reforms

Twenty-year-old boy brutally murdered

In a sensational incident, one Ramanand Bora (20) was killed by his neighbour at Dakhin Bidyanagar in Hojai on Friday night. As per information, neighbour Deepak Rajkhowa repeatedly stabbed Ramanand with a sharp weapon. Reportedly, Deepak  originally  hails from Karbianglong's Taradupi and was the neighbour of the victim since last past six years.
