AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Two more officers held in APSC scam

GUWAHATI: The Dibrugarh police probing the APSC scam on Tuesday arrested two more officers charging the duo with resorting to unfair means to ensure selection in the civil service examination. The special operation unit housed in Guwahati arrested Bikash Kumar Pincha, tax superintendent from Dhubri and his Morigaon counterpart Manash Pratim Haloi after interrogating six hours in this connection. They are expected to be produced before the special court on Wednesday morning seeking them in their demand. Notably, Pinch is the husband of Nishamoni Deka whom police arrested and sent to the Guwahati Central Jail in the same APSC scam.

Final NRC draft on June 30: SC

NEW DELHI: The process to update NRC in Assam will be further expedited as the Supreme Court has asked the authority to publish the final draft on June 30.A division bench of the country’s top court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice RF Narimon on Tuesday said that the second draft should be published on May 31. The final draft was asked to be published on June 30.The first NRC draft was published on December 31, 2017.
