AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Gang of gunmen strikes terror in Kakopothar

DIBRUGARH: A gang of gunmen unleashed a reign of terror in a remote village in Dibrugarh on Saturday triggering sensation in the entire district. As many as 10 armed men stormed into a village in Kakopothar area in the wee hours in search of someone striking panic among the villagers.  Towards the morning, these unidentified gunmen took away a local youth Suranjeet Konwar from his house which is still remaining clueless. AGARTALA: After interrogating for two hours at a police station in Agartala, the election observer asked Pallab Lochan Das to leave Tripura on Friday night. The power minister was caught in a remote area in Dhalai district in the poll bound north eastern state acting on the allegations of violating model code of conduct since he was allegedly distributing cash among the voters. He was caught by local people and Left activists with the car in which he was travelling with a fake pass shown to have been signed by Dhalai SP.

HSLC, AHM Exams get underway

GUWAHATI: Amid an unprecedented security bandobast, the High School Leaving Certificate Examination and High Madrasa Examinations 2018 begin on Friday across the state. Altogether 3,44,190 candidates have appeared in the HSLC examination  conducted by the Secondary Education Board of Assam at 852 centres. Of them 176,308 are female while 167,882 others are male.   On the other hand, 5,225 female candidates are appearing in the AHM examination against 4,118 male students. All examination centres are under strict CCTV surveillance and the authorities have set up 34 evaluation zones across the State.
