AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

GUWAHATI:Shock and anger grip Assam again when a girl from Boko died in Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Saturday nine days after three local youths gangraped her. The incident took place on December 14 in Rongapani area when three local youths came to her house and gangraped her in the absence of her parents. The seriously injured girl was rushed to the GMCH where she died on Saturday triggering huge protest in the entire area. As the sad news spread like wildfire in the morning people in large number came out to the road demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrators. DIBRUGARH: Amid a mammoth security arrangement, the Goalpara police have departed Dibrugarh early in the morning with Akhil Gogoi whom they arrested on Friday after the KMSS leader procured bail in a case pending against him in Moran Police station. The huge police team from Dudhnoi who arrived in Dibrigarh on Friday left for Goalpara at 8 in the morning. Gogoi would be kept in Dudhnoi police station for the night and on Sunday only he would be produced before the CJM court. Gogoi was arrested in connection with a case in Dudhnoi where he allegedly instigated his supporters to remove the signboard of the Dindayal Upadhyay College.

The Dudhnoi police have got Gogoi in their demand on Friday evening in connection with two cases pending against the peasant leader. GUWAHATI: Stages are set in Assam to publish the first updated NRC draft on December 31, 2017. Union home secretary Rajib Gauba on Friday had a close door meeting with NRC and top administrative officers in Dispur. Addressing a press conference in the capital city in the afternoon, Gauba said the first draft would be published on December 31, 2017. The genuine citizens whose names are missing have no reason to be worried. They would get a chance in the second draft, said Gauba. "We have yet to verify several lakhs of documents to be checked and verified properly," he said.
