Two NRC drafts to accomodate citizens

GUWAHATI: Stages are set in Assam to publish the first updated NRC draft on December 31, 2017.

Union home secretary Rajib Gauba on Friday had a close door meeting with NRC and top administrative officers in Dispur.

Addressing a press conference in the capital city in the afternoon, Gauba said the first draft would be published on December 31, 2017. The genuine citizens whose names are missing have no reason to be worried. They would get a chance in the second draft, said Gauba.

"We have yet to verify several lakhs of documents to be checked and verified properly," he said.

Before that he reviewed the state's law and order with top civil, police, army and para military officers.
