AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Naga rebels arrested in Sonari

SIVASAGAR: A section of Naga rebels has been moving in Sonari without any hindrance waiting for the much-hyped greater Nagalim just before the Christmas. Security forces apprehended three armed Naga rebels during a combing operation in Sonari on Thursday. Acting on a tip off, army, police and para military forces raided the Seven Star Hotel in the town where the trio were lodging. A team of senior police officers has been interrogating them. Police claimed to have seized a pistol and some incriminating documents from their possession. HC orders probe in to Akhil's arrest under NSA

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court is unhappy with the way the Dibrugarh police arrested Akhil Gogoi under the National Security Act three months back.Granting bail to the KMSS leader on Thursday, the bench of Justice Achintya Malla Bujarbaruah said the entire process has some serious lapses which needs to be probed. Justice Bujarbaruah asked chief secretary to institute a probe into the lapses. He said the advisery panel was too late to approve the arrest of Akhil Gogoi under NSA.He further strongly criticized the authority for it's delay in informing it to the Centre. Akhil Gogoi procures bail from HC

GUWAHATI: Finally, the Gauhati High Court has granted bail to Akhil Gogoi whom the Dibrugarh police arrested under the National Security Act on September 13. After hearing the bail plea moved on behalf of the KMSS leader, the court on Thursday morning cleared it ruling that the arrest under NSA was faulty. Crowd in Dibrugarh to catch Akhil

DIBRUGARH: KMSS leaders and workers have started gathering in front of the Dibrugarh Central Jail from early in the morning to catch a glimpse of Akhil Gogoi who is likely to get bail on Thursday. KMSS workers, mostly, from Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Sivasagar and Golaghat have arrived in the town to see their leader who was sent to jail under NSA. GUWAHATI: A special CBI court in Guwahati on Wednesday remanded Rajesh Dhawan to two days CBI custody who was arrested on Tuesday night.
