AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Mild tremor rerun strikes panic

GUWAHATI: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck massive panic in Assam early in the morning on Saturday. Originated at Gauripur in Dhubri, the tremor jolted the entire state at 6.45 in the morning forcing many people in the high rise buildings in the urban areas to come down to the open space. Gold biscuits seized in Guwahati airport

GUWAHATI: Security forces seized gold weighing nearly 1 KG from a person at the Lokoriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on Friday. Acting on a tip off, the CISF jawans raided Ankush Chetti who was preparing to depart the city to New Delhi by the IndiGo flight in the morning. When thoroughly checked, the gold biscuits worth ₹30 lakh was discovered in his rectum. He was arrested and the biscuits were recovered at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Bike rally for another BVFCL unit

NAMRUP: Hundreds of bikers took out a huge rally in Namrup on Friday mounting more pressure on the government to expedite the proposed fourth unit of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation. Rhino moving in human habitate

MORIGAON: Two stray rhinos have been unleashing no less terror in a remote hamlet in Morigaon district after it came from the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on Thursday night. Local residents in Doipara spotted one of the rhinos moving in the open field in the morning. A team of forest guards has been trying to drive the rhinos back to the sanctuary. "I heard two rhinos. But came to see one. As I was walking in the open field came to see the animal moving to and fro striking panic among the cattle," said a villager. Another villager said," I found it very interesting as I came to see a buffalo running away after it spotted the rhino."
