NAMRUP: Hundreds of bikers took out a huge rally in Namrup on Friday mounting more pressure on the government to expedite the proposed fourth unit of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation.
With banners and festoons tied in their two wheelers demanding the early to set up the proposed unit, the bikers started the rally from the BVFCL main gate to Naharkatia SDO (civil) office where they submitted a memorandum reiterating their demand.
BVFCL Workers' Union, Namrup AASU, All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union and Namrup Gramya Unnoyan organized the rally where more than 300 bikers participated.
A couple of years back the government accepted the proposal to set up the fourth unit to boost fertilizer production. But the unit has yet to see the light of the day.
