In yet another major change in the pre poll political landscape in Dima Hasao district, several Congressleaders are believed to have been preparing to join BJP. The date of joining has yet to be decided. Even after Thaosen quit the post, BJP has not formed it only because of the deal. They include Debojeet Thaosen, Kulendra Daulagupu, Denis Teron, Laljoshua Baite, Devojit Bathari, Samuel Changsan and Tushar Kanti Deb who have agreed to join BJP if they are allowed to remain in power.
The sudden development took place a few days after the Debojeet Thaosen resigned after the Congress-led council was reduced to minority when 2 members joined BJP apart from three independents.

Such folly & greedy act on the part of congress influence people to enter BJP is unwelcomed. These people have completely eaten up all developmental funds.
I myself have supported Mr.Samuel Changsan but after seeing his double face I have ceased to follow his footsteps. They should be barred from this district altogether
Fear and panic seem to have struck Sivasagar town after an explosion at an oil well on Thursday.The explosion took place with a huge sound in the wee hours at the Oil Well NO 14 in Rudrasagar resulting in speedy emission of gas in the entire area. The explosion is believed to have taken place due to technical snag.Senior civil, police and ONGC officials arrived on the spot and started evacuating the local residents to ensure their safety. Hundreds of panic-stricken people in the area are leaving their homes from early in the morning. ONGC experts are trying to bring the situation under control.
Local residents in the Rudrasagar area near the Sivasagar town blame it all on the ONGC authority for the explosion in the oil well on Thursday.They told Assam Times that they have been demanding withdrawal of the oil well from the thickly populated area. But the authorities have been downplaying the demands.“Had it been withdrawn earlier, this situation would not have taken place today,” said Nishant Bora who is leading a group of people to gherao the ONGC authorities.
Surface communication between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has come to a grinding halt from Thursday following the indefinite economic blockade in Bihali in protest against the firing incident at Chauldhuwa.Local residents in large number blocked the roads leading to the neeighbouring state disrupting the supply of essential commodities from early in the morning. Trucks carrying commodities to Itanagar town are remaining stranded on the road under the impact of the blockade.Talking to Assam Times, protestors said that they won’t leave the blockade until and unless the miscreants are brought to book. Tension seems to have escalated further along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border a day after at least ten people have been killed in miscreants’ firing at Chauldhuwa.Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of the entire area to flush out the miscreants who started indiscriminate firing at a forest camp manned by around 400 people to prevent encroachment by the Arunachalese miscreants. Top ranked police and civil officials are camping in the area to strictly deal with further eventualities.

AGP, BJP and AIUDF have formally asked party legislators to vote for the consensus candidate in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls.The legislators are in the receipt of formal instructions from the party leaderships. In a set back for the opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain, independent MLA Jatin Mali made it plain on Wednesday that he would vote for the ruling party candidate.He is believed to have decided not to vote for the AGP-sponsored candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls slated for February 7. At least ten people were killed and over 20 have been injured in indiscriminate firing by miscreants along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.The incident took place at Chauldhua area in the afternoon when miscreants from the neighboring state started indiscriminate firing on a camp of a group of local residents to prevent aggression by a section of Arunachalese. The firing continued for several hours and security forces rushed to the spot only in the evening.
