Oil well explodes in Sivasagar

Fear and panic seem to have struck Sivasagar town after an explosion at an oil well on Thursday.

The explosion took place with a huge sound in the wee hours at the Oil Well NO 14 in Rudrasagar resulting in speedy emission of gas in the entire area. The explosion is believed to have taken place due to technical snag.

Senior civil, police and ONGC officials arrived on the spot and started evacuating the local residents to ensure their safety. Hundreds of panic-stricken people in the area are leaving their homes from early in the morning. ONGC experts are trying to bring the situation under control.
