Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4

A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

Security forces arrested a hardcore Adivasi Dragon Fighter (ADF) militant at Batabari village in Chirang district on Monday. Acting on secret inputs a joint team of police, army, SSB operation Mangal Murmu was captured. Security forces have claimed to capture a NDFB-S cadre from Serfanguri bazar early morning on Sunday under Serfanguri Police station in Kokrajhar district. According to police, based on an input about presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation in the area manage to arrest a cadre of the NDFB-S along with arms from Serfanguri bazar this morning around 4.30 am. The arrested was identified as Doukha Narzary@ N Doctai, a Myanmar trained cadre of the organization in 2013. A country made 9 mm pistol and four live amunitions were recovered from him.

Security forces captured a top NDFB-S militant at an encounter insurgency operation in Chirang district on Friday. According to police, identified as Rongja Raj, the outfit’s chief of the army has been captured in the morning and a huge cache of arms were seized from his possession. Raj was next to B Bidai, the dreaded leader who was responsible many gory incidents during the last couple of years. His security guard Junglao Narzary was also captured along with him.
