Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4

A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district. 

Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country. 

Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state

Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

Security forces held a NDFB-S militant during a joint operation Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The Adivasi Mahasabha enters third day at the Magurmari High School ground in Kokrajhar on Sunday. The Mahasabha held its delegate session on Saturday with Wilfred Topno as president where the delegates from various districts gathered and discussed cultural, language and development of the community. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pradip Kumar Bhagawati attended the session and released the souvenir and books on the occasion. National Commission for Scheduled Tribes chairman Dr Rsmeswar Oraon is scheduled to attend as chief guest on Sunday.

Over 1000 delegates from various district of Assam thronged Kokrajhar to attend the 12th Adivasi Mahasabha which got underway on Friday. Security forces caught a hardcore NDFB-S militant during an operation in Kokrajhar on Friday. Identified as Gendra Basumatary alias Galore, he was apprehended from Bismuri Galabari area in Kokrajhar district in a joint operation by army and police. One 7.62 mm pistol and two live ammunition of 7.62 mm pistol were recovered from him.
