Adivasi Mahasabha to starts from Oct 4
A hectic preparation is in full swing to host 12th Adivasi Mahasabha with three days colourful programme scheduled at Magurmari High School ground from October 2 next in Kokrajhar district.
Stephen Lakra, working president of the Reception Committee of the Mahasabha told that the Mahasabha has been organising to uplift social, literary and community integration of the Adivasi in Assam as well across the country.
Over 2000 delegates from various districts of Assam are participating in the grand function, besides 50,000 people's thronged has been expected on the open session of the Mahasabha. The reception committee has engaged 150 volunteers to serve the Mahasabha to market a grand successful which is the biggest function of the Adivasi community in the state.
Dr Rameswar Oraon, chairman National Commission for Scheduled Tribes will grace as chief guest, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has consented to grace as inaugurator on the open session on October 4, Lakra said.

United Peoples Front (UPF) claimed on Monday that it would play a prominent role in the formation of the next government in Dispur. The Adivasi Mahasabha enters third day at the Magurmari High School ground in Kokrajhar on Sunday. The Mahasabha held its delegate session on Saturday with Wilfred Topno as president where the delegates from various districts gathered and discussed cultural, language and development of the community. Security forces have claimed to captured five militants belonging to Muslim Tiger Force of Assam(MTFA) from Guwabari area in Kokrajhar district on Saturday. Identified as Aminur Islam, Nijam Ali, Anirudin Mondol, Najir Hussain and Nur Hussain- all residents of Kamalsingh Kurshakati village under Gossaigaon subdivision were caught during a combing operation.
