Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Delhi police on Wednesday rescued two girls a month after they went missing from Dhubri.Acting on a tip off a team of Delhi police raided a house in Rohini area where the two girls hailing from Dhubri area were recovered. Uncertainty still persist for the nine Congress MLAs who are prepared to join BJP. According to Assam Times Political Research Bureau, neither the central leadership nor the state leadership have given them the green signal to join the party.  “They have three conditions for joining BJP. Party president Amit Shah advised them to talk to the state leadership when they met him in  New Delhi recently. But they have yet take up their conditions with the state leadership. Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s resignation is bound to pave the way for bye election in the Jalukbari constituency as the state has seven months to go to the assembly polls.BJP poll strategists want the bye election in Jalukbari to boost the morale of the party in rank and file.Immediately after joining the party, Dr Sarma left it all on the Congress leadership. Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will quit as Congress MLA on Tuesday. Dr Sarma who is arriving in Guwahati from Sivasagar in the afternoon is set to meet the Assam Assembly secretary to clear the formalities to resign as Congress MLA from Jalukbari constituency. According to sources, if it is delayed on Tuesday, he will complete the formalities on Wednesday. Dr Sarma was elected as MLA from Jalukbari constituency in 2001 with Congress ticket. He was reelected in 2006 assembly polls. He won the polls for the third consecutive term in 2011.
