Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

In yet another case of crime against women three miscreants gangraped a local girl in a remote place in Sivasagar district in full view of her brother in law on Thursday night.The shocking incident took place at Hanuman Tea Garden in Nazira when the girl was walking along with her brother in law. Local residents said three motor cycle born youths appeared on the scene and forcibly took away the girl to be gangraped.As the local residents in large number thronged the miscreants fled from the spot. The girl was rushed to the Hiteswar Saikia Sub divisional Hospital.
Guwahati police have yet to trace out Gopinath Das in connection with a rape case pending against the AUDF MLA in Boko. The city police team probing the sensational case have been looking for the MLA for the last three days who has been on the run. Sources told Assam Times that a police team looked raided the house of a college teacher on Thursday in search of the absconding MLA. But he was not present there. Bowing down to an escalating pressure 3 more MLAs have put in their papers in Manipur on Thursday. Phungzathang Tonsing, Dr Chaltonlien Amo and T Vungzagin resigned after they hardly saw any possibility of withdrawing the three controversial bills that triggered howls of protest in the north eastern state.Contrary to what was widely believed, home minister Gaikhanngam did not resigned. Blazing gunfire again seems to have buried the hopes of people in Dima Hasao district. Terror shadow falls again on the peace loving people atop the hills district.Dima Hasao police claimed to have killed three insurgents at an encounter on Thursday. The encounter took place at Karachand area in Basabari in the wee hours where DHD(A) dreaded leaders Nigu Fonglu, Sibu Kamprai were killed on the spot. A premier investigation agency meant to probe the region of terror on Thursday announced an astronomical amount of money for tips on the whereabouts of two top NSCN-K leaders—the blatant bran behind a gory attack on army in Manipur three months back. The investigation agency promised Rs 7 lakh reward for the inputs on the whereabouts of SS Khaplang, the military head of the Naga insurgent outfit.
