An emotional moment with pensive conclusion embraced nearly hundred participants as they assembled at Makhibaha HS School in Nalbari district of central Assam on 16 April on the occasion of Satirtha Samaroh.
Over fifty former students belonged to 1982-83 high school leaving certificate examination batch along with their family members participated in the function with various programs like the plantation in the school premise, commemoration to their school friends, felicitation to former teachers, vivid interactions among the participants etc.
The felicitated teachers including Trailokya Choudhury, Prafulla Goswami, Narayan Sarma, Jogesh Sarma, Naren Das, Rameswar Kalita, Mathur Thakuria, Umesh Kalita etc remembered the days when this batch promoted to the tenth standard with lot of expectations, which were fairly materialized with the blessings from the then head master Malin Chandra Sarma.
Few students of the batch have expired untimely for various reasons and the participants paid heartfelt tributes to Bhupen Bhattacharya, Phatik Thakuria, Aswini Thakuria, Prahlad Barman, Shivakanta Haloi, Gopal Das, Dinesh Deka and Dilip Deka in presence of their families. The meeting, presided over by Hareswar Dutta, was also addressed by the Makhibaha HS School principal Pratibha Devi, Makhibaha Gramonnayan committee president Harsih Bhattacharya, former school employee Jalika Barman, former students Nava Thakuria, Saroj Haloi, Niren Thakuria, Pradip Sarma, Nabadeep Bharali, Pankaj Talukder etc. A chorus penned by the former students was also performed by Narayan Majumder, Kisor Sarma, Pradip Pathak, Rina Deka, Hitesh Deka, Gopeswar Haloi, Utpal Bhattacharya, Pramod Barman, Golak Pathak, Kalyan Sarma, Gopi Haloi etc.
The participants resolved to support the institutions and the Makhibaha locality as a whole with their personal capacities in the coming days. Moreover they decided to assemble at the same school once again in 2020 with more programs and participations.
