Surface communication between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has come to a grinding halt from Thursday following the indefinite economic blockade in Bihali in protest against the firing incident at Chauldhuwa.Local residents in large number blocked the roads leading to the neeighbouring state disrupting the supply of essential commodities from early in the morning. Trucks carrying commodities to Itanagar town are remaining stranded on the road under the impact of the blockade.Talking to Assam Times, protestors said that they won’t leave the blockade until and unless the miscreants are brought to book. Tension seems to have escalated further along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border a day after at least ten people have been killed in miscreants’ firing at Chauldhuwa.Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of the entire area to flush out the miscreants who started indiscriminate firing at a forest camp manned by around 400 people to prevent encroachment by the Arunachalese miscreants. Top ranked police and civil officials are camping in the area to strictly deal with further eventualities.

AGP, BJP and AIUDF have formally asked party legislators to vote for the consensus candidate in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls.The legislators are in the receipt of formal instructions from the party leaderships. In view of the lack of numbers, Congress have no option but to take resort to horse trading to ensure the victory of the three candidates.

At least ten people were killed and over 20 have been injured in indiscriminate firing by miscreants along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in Sonitpur district on Wednesday.The incident took place at Chauldhua area in the afternoon when miscreants from the neighboring state started indiscriminate firing on a camp of a group of local residents to prevent aggression by a section of Arunachalese.    The firing continued for several hours and security forces rushed to the spot only in the evening.
