Himanta joins BJP

In a big development in the state’s political arena, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP.

The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday slammed AGP, BJP and AIUDF for standing united to ensure the victory of the Opposition consensus candidate in the ensuring Rajya Sabha polls.Talking to reporters in the sidelines of a function in Dibrugarh, Gogoi said that despite unbridgeable differences, the  opposition parties have stood united only to defeat Congress. But he said that the unity won’t work this time also.
