Border visual springs surprise for SC
Indo-Bangladesh border is perhaps the most porous of all the borders on this planet. This was what the Supreme Court has observed after a glimpse of the visuals it received from the Upamanyu Hazarika panel.
Procured from the one man panel set up to study the border situation, the CD has many stunning visuals which neither the Assam government and nor BSF have refused. It exposes how anybody from the neighhbouring country can infiltrate from across the porous portion of the international border without any hiindrence.
The visuals of cattle along the river route stunned even the supreme court bench when it was examined by the Hazarika panel which visited the border in May.

The Centre on Monday assured the Meghalaya government of all possible help to bail out the state from the law and order lapses. Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma received the assurance when he called on Union home minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today has approved the ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ - a path breaking scheme for farmers’ welfare. As per this scheme there will be a uniform premium of only 2% to be paid by farmers for all Kharif crops and 1.5% for all Rabi crops. In case of annual commercial and horticultural crops, the premium to be paid by farmers will be only 5%. The surrendered ULFA activists staged demonstration in New Delhi on Tuesday demanding inner line permit in the state apart from raising a few other issues. At 10 in the morning, more than 50 surrendered ULFA activists thronged the Jantar Mantar in the capital and started the dharma. "We want ILP in the state. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has been camping in New Delhi to take out yet another protest at the Sansad Bhawan premises against the NDA government. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is all prepared to stage dharna in front of Parliament on Wednesday alleging non receipt of central funds to the state. Party MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are also joining Gogoi at 11 in the morning. Senior Congress leaders told Assam Times that along with the Ex-Assam MPs, they want party president Sonia Gandhi to join the dharna. Gogoi announced the dharna plan a couple of days back giving a deadline.
