Keeping an escalating protest at bay, AGP formalized poll deal with BJP on Thursday where the regional party would be contesting in 24 seats. "Other seats are left for BJP and alliance," said BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad who addressed a joint press conference in New Delhi.
The BJP leader said, "AGP will contest in Naharkatiya, Teok, Amguri, Bongaigaon, Bilasipara, Sarukhetri, Dalgaon, Lahorighat, Jamunamukh, Borhompur, Bokakhat, Sarupathar, Dergaon, South Abhayapuri, North Abhayapuri, Lakhimpur,Kaliabor, West Guwahati, Chaygaon and Boko, Pattacharkuchi, Kamalpur, Tezpur, Barpeta and Jalukbari."
AGP president Atul Bora who was present in the press conference said that the deal is the need of the hour to keep Congress away from power.
