ABSU declares Boragari as Model Village

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has adopted and declared the Boragari village as Model Village,birth place of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma,former president of the students union on his 25th death anniversary observation on Friday at Thulungapuri Dotma in Kokrajhar.

An open session meeting on the occasion was organised with Promod Boro, president of the students union in the chair.

Noted journalist Adhip Phukon graced the occasion as chief guest,who had met UN Brahma during Bodoland movement was in peak in Assam seeking separate Bodoand state.He said that Brahma was a leader of high thinking and philosophy who had launched movement for Bodos and other down trodden communities in the state.He said that rulers in Assam government that time had not regarded the movement led by ABSU in a welfare of which why the movement got gain momentum in the region.He said that Brahmas’ contributions towards Bodo was endless and it has been enfluencing upon society.He has thanked ABSU and its workers for adopting the Boragari village as Model Village in memory of Brahma which will highlight ideology and philosophy among coming up generations.

Nina Khado, former adviser of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union(AAPSU),who met UN Brahma in 1988 at a conference held at Basbari in Kokrajhar district also graced the occasion.He recalled his meeting with Brahma during Bodoland movement and demanded recognition of UN Brahma as Father of Tribal movement in India instead of Bodofa UN Brahma(Father of Bodos) who had dedicated his whole life for working of irrespective caste, creed and communities in the country.

As many as 13 fishermen were arrested by Bhutan Royal Army on Tuesday inside deep jungle of Sarpang district of Bhutan while going illegally into the neighboring country. According to a senior police officer in Kokrajhar, thirteen persons from Kachugaon area of Gossaigaon subdivision illegally entered seven kilometers into Bhutan territory to fishing inside deep jungle where they were caught by Bhutan Royal Army on Tuesday and then handed over them to Kokrajhar police. Security forces have claimed to capture four militant cadres including a hardcore cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) in three different places in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Baksa district on Monday.
