Sports meet concludes in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR:  The first ever inter college sports meet of Bodoland University was concluded  with three day programme scheduled at Bodoland University ground in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Altogether eighteen colleges from different districts of lower Assam region took part in the sports meet.The meet was organized by Bodoland University in association with Bodoland University Students Union(BUSU) to promote mental and physical development among student community. Participants presented their attractive sporting talents in football and Kabadi events both in male and female category. In football(male),Jomduar College, Saraibil won the championship trophy defeating Dimakuchi College, Udalguri 2-0. In Kabadi (female), Koklabari -Chapaguri College, Baksa beat Tamulpur College, Tamulpur. BTC deputy chief, Khampa Borgoyary graced as chief on the prize distribution ceremony of the concluding day. Borgoyary handed over the prizes along trophies among prize winners. In his speech, Borgoyary said that sports event is an essential part of human life as today proples watching every sport events in the world. He said that now adays football world cup is being held in Russia in which world footballers are presenting their best magic of football playing in the world event.Presently,Kabadi event has also been recognized as an important event in the world. He has urged the sports men as well student community to be a best sports player in their life in days to coming. Among others, VC of Bodoland University Prof HK Baruah,registrar of Bodoland University Dr Sekhar Brahma were prominent attendees on the occasion.

KOKRAJHAR: A three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration of the No.753 DN Himmatsingkha Lower Primary School, Kokrajhar has entered into second day on Saturday at its school premises. KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region. Earlier, BTC region was made exempted from the disruption of net services from state government on December 10. However, all kinds of internet services were made disrupted all over the state on December 12 to keep the strong mass protest against the controversial citizenship (amendement) act.
KOKRAJHAR: Police arrested five protesters in Kokrajhar on Wednesday who burnt effigies of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Activists and members from All Assam Nath Yogi Students Union carried out a protest demonstration along the JD Road near District Computer centre in Kokrajhar against the CAB bill and burnt effigies of Sonowal and Sarma. The protestors staged protest demonstration with shouting slogans demanding early withdrawal of the bill. The protestors violated CrPC 144 clamp in the district", said a senior police officer.

KOKRAJHAR: Normal life was paralised  in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) region on Tuesday due to 11-hour north east bandh called to put protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill which was tabled in Lok Sabha on Monday amidst strong oppossed from different corner. KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Brahma was admitted at the hospital few months back following some illness. He left a son and daughter and his wife. He was 60 Brahma's body was brought to his Tengapara residence in Kokrajhar on Thursday morning and cremated at Tengapara crematorium ground Kokrajhar after performing all rituals in the evening.
