Anti-tobacco bill soon

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that the bill to ban tobacco is on the cards. Dr Sarma informed the Assam assembly on Wednesday that the bill would be moved after cabinet approval.

the govt should inform all the trade bodies what products are banned or what not banned to save the petty traders from the meaningless harassment from the govt officers and so called many organisations. the sale of smoking items should also be banned in the state.

The regional meteorological centre in Guwahati recorded a maximum temperature of 38.8°C on Wednesday. It predicts hardly any relief during the next 48 hours. Schools and colleges are remaining closed under the impact of the heat-wave. The Kamrup (Metro) district administration has instructed schools across Guwahati to remain shut on Thursday and Friday.
