Security forces are spreading along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border to rescue Anil Kumar Agarwal a day after suspected NDFB (S) militants kidnapped the general manager with National Hydroelectric Power Corporation.
He was abducted at gun point from Bhalukpung in Sonitpur district on Saturday on his way to Guwahati. Agarwal was posted as general manager in the NHPC's 800 MW power project, under construction at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
Police called it a handiwork of the NDFB (Songbijit) faction. One of the four motorcycles used to kidnap the official. But police have denied any ransom demand from the outfit. Four motorcycle-riding youths stopped his vehicle near Bhalukpong and whisked him away at gunpoint on their motorcycles.

The driver rushed to the Assam Rifles establishment at Chariduar and informed officials about the abduction.
