Anti-tobacco bill soon

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that the bill to ban tobacco is on the cards. Dr Sarma informed the Assam assembly on Wednesday that the bill would be moved after cabinet approval.

the govt should inform all the trade bodies what products are banned or what not banned to save the petty traders from the meaningless harassment from the govt officers and so called many organisations. the sale of smoking items should also be banned in the state.

Amid demand for statehood Chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that all ethnic groups need to stay united.Talking to reporters in Titabor on Friday, Gogoi said, “We need to stay together. Tension is simmering in Diphu after two persons were killed in police firing in violence in the agitation for a separate Karbi Anglong on the lines of Telangana which also spurred GJM on Thursday to call for an indefinite bandh in Darjeeling from Saturday for Gorkhaland.As large-scale arson broke out, the Army, called in on Wednesday, was on stand by to assist the Karbi Anglong district administration with police and paramilitary forces on patrol.
