Sadhana Das passes away

Sadhana Das (69 years), wife of a benevolent social worker of Jorhat Jiten Das has left her mortal body on 21st June, 2007 at Dispur Hospital, Guwahati. She has left behind her husband, her only son Mr. Jyotimoi Das and her two daughters along with many other relatives.

Finally, the statue of Don Bosco fails to install by the river Brahmaputra in Bharalumukh on Friday.Amid stiff protest, a group of unidentified persons displaced before installation on Friday morning.    Later the Don Bosco authorities along with the district administration lifted it away from the spot. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi was scheduled to formally unveil the statue much to utter disappointment and anger of many people in the entire area.

Amid a pall of gloom, lifeless Mohan Boro has arrived in Bongaigaon three days after the Assam Regiment jawan was killed by alleged Pakistani terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.His body was flown from his work place to his family members who broke down in tears as soon as they received the body of Mohan. Local residents have thronged in thousands at his home when the body arrived in the afternoon.Senior district administration officials also arrived in his home to facilitate the local people to pay their last homage to the soldier who was killed in an encounter with terrorists from across the border.

Defying an inclement weather operations are on in search of the Pawans Hans chopper which went missing in Arunachal Pradesh carrying a senior officer on Tuesday.Operation is being concentrated on a dense jungle in the hills state bordering Assam where the chopper carrying Tirap DC Kamalesh Joshi was believed to have crashed in the air on its way to Lungding from Kunsa.
