ICC NER reaches out to flood affected areas

Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) along with The Assam Tribune, Prayash Foundation reached out to flood affected people in Central Assam in various flood affected areas of Jamugurighat, Tezpur on Saturday. Floods last month had caused colossal loss to lives and properties, rendering nearly 20 lakhs families homeless, more than 121 precious lives lost officially , thousands feared to be washed away and the aftermath was disastrous. Miltiple downpours made lives of the flood affected.


Adding towards the spirit of being more responsible organisation the ICC-NER appealed all its members, corporate houses, banks to contribute to the flood affected people directly or associate with the ICC in the noble initiative and the respond was huge. In a short notice mosquito nets around 350 in number, several litres of packaged drinking drinking water, 10 Quintals of Rice, more than 5000 pieces of useable clothes, several hunderd cartoons of biscuits and soaps, mosquito coils and medicines were distributed among 400 families in Phulotika near Jamugurighat on Saturday in presence of Apurba Jibon Baruah, Superintendant of Police , Sonitpur and Sonitpur District Administration which was flagged off by Kongkona Bhattacharrya, Secretray General of Prayash Foundation, Garima Garg, ethnic designer, Ishantor Sobhapandit Regional Director of ICC-NER, with help from local social workers and community leaders and youth activists. Mousumi Baruah Additional Deputy Commissioner had also visited relief distributed area.
