Army organises medical camp

A medical camp was organized at Hudakona on 12 Nov 2008 by the 4 KUMAON Regiment of Double First Brigade of the Red Horns Division. The medical camp was inaugurated by Officiating CO, 4 KUMAON. 07 Army Doctors along with 16 Civilian Doctors provided medical aid to more than 5000 patients of the remote villages of Assam and Meghalaya.

The sincere effort of Army towards amelioration of the condition of sick and suffering population residing in the remote villages near Hudakona, Goalpara District was deeply appreciated by the villagers as it provided them medical facilities at their doorstep. There were people of all age groups in attendance, some of them coming from very remote villages. All of them were attended to by the doctors and medicines worth Rs 2.5 lakhs were distributed free of cost. On the occasion, tea and refreshments were also provided to the locals. A cultural programme was also organized at the venue. A CSD counter was also opened at the venue of the medical camp for the ESM, War Widows and their dependents.

Major DS Samant, Officiating CO of the 4 KUMAON Regiment interacted with the locals at the venue. He said that it would be a constant endeavour of the Army to help in the welfare and development activities for the people in rural areas of Assam. He also stated that many more civic action programmes would be undertaken in the near future.
